December 1
Springs Preserve Winter Lights Festival
The Springs Preserve is presenting its second annual Winter Lights Festival, a holiday-inspired, half-a-million-light show open to everyone. Visit the link above for more information on dates and times. 333 S. Valley View Blvd., between US 95 and Alta Drive.

December 4
Community Blood Drive
It's the season of giving! The blood drive will be at Brinley Community School, 6150 Smoke Ranch Road, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for anyone 16 years and older. Call (702) 229-2642 for more information.

December 6
Holiday Card and Poem Workshop
Design and create your own unique holiday cards that can include haikus, poems, limericks and more. All ages are welcome. Activities start at 1:00 p.m. and cost $5 per person. Reed Whipple Cultural Center; 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North, (702) 229-6211.

December 7
Las Vegas Marathon
Spectators are invited to cheer on their favorite runners at the fourth annual Las Vegas Marathon. The race begins at 6:07 a.m. and ends when the last participant crosses the finish line. The marathon begins and ends at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino at 3950 Las Vegas Boulevard. Dress warmly!

December 9
Letters to Santa
Deliver your child’s letter to the Santa Mailbox by December 9, along with an information form filled out by a parent. Your child will even receive a personal letter back from Santa in time for Christmas! Fee is $1 at the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 N. Pavilion Center Drive; (702) 229-1100.

December 10
Chocolate Covered Everything Family Workshop
Enjoy lots of yummy treats dipped in chocolate, from apples and peaches to jelly beans and red hots! Fee is $5 per family and includes supplies and light refreshments. Centennial Hills Community Center Community Room, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive, (702) 229-6729.

December 12
Bandstand Jam Series
Enjoy a fun holiday sing-along at the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. All ages are welcome and songs are led by various community performers in both English and Spanish. Admission is free. 250 N. Eastern Ave.; (702) 229-1515.

December 13
Holiday Ornament Workshop
Families with children of all ages are invited to create unique holiday ornaments to decorate your home for the holidays or to give as gifts. All ages are welcome at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center at 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Call (702) 229-6211 for more information. $5 per person for materials.

Holiday Hula Workshop
Learn a hula you can share for the holiday season! Both beginners and intermediate students can learn basic movements plus a modern-style holiday hula that is enjoyable to learn and can be performed for family and friends. Classes begin at 1:30 p.m. and admission is free. Reed Whipple Cultural Center; 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North, (702) 229-6211.

December 18
Rock ‘n’ Christmas Party
Enjoy a treat while watching Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer. A picture with Santa is included in the $15 fee. Parents must stay with children under 3 years. The party begins at 5:00 p.m. and lasts until 7:00 p.m. at the Johnson Community School, 340 Villa Monterey, (702) 229-6175.

December 19
Free Holiday Get-A-Way
From 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. enjoy entertainment, pictures with Santa and other festivities at the Stupak Community Center, 300 W. Boston Ave., (702) 229-2488. All ages are welcome.

December 20
Holiday Story Time
The young and young at heart will enjoy this fun holiday story-time event. Story time begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center at 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North; (702) 229-6211. Admission is free.

Razzle Bam Boom — Family Christmas Show
A holiday musical extravaganza for the whole family! Razzle Bam Boom is an award-winning duo that has toured the U.S. and Canada. Tickets are $3 each and the show begins at 2:00 p.m. Charleston Heights Arts Center; 800 S. Brush Street, (702) 229-6383.

December 22 - January 2
Winter Break Santa Express Specialty Day Camp
Children ages 6-11 can have a fun winter break at the Mirabelli Community Center, 6200 Hargrove Ave. Call ((702) 229-6359) and Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 N. Pavilion Center Drive, )(702) 229-1100). Camp is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and costs $100 per child per week, and $90 for each additional child per week. No camp December 25 and January 1.
