By 2014 the face of the Las Vegas skyline will forever change with the arrival of The Linq. Caesar's has invested $550 million dollars to turn a long underused plot into the hottest new entertainment complex not only on the Strip, but anywhere in the world. The Linq will redefine Las Vegas the way CityCenter did in 2009.
What is the Linq?
"The LINQ is an open-air retail, dining and entertainment district, anchored by the world's tallest observation wheel, known as the High Roller," boasts their official website. Put simply The Linq is the entertainment complex that every Las Vegas resident is eagerly awaiting. While many locals miss O'Shay's which was demolished along with the accompanying parking lot to make room for the Linq.
This 300,000 square foot open area mall will open in stages starting in December 2013 and culminating in Spring 2014 (rumors have said February) when the High Roller gives its first riders the best view of the Strip outside of a helicopter tour. It will feature 30 to 40 retail shops and restaurants.
Where is the Linq?
The Linq's location at the corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard puts it at the heart of Las Vegas. The Linq is located between The Quad (previously the Imperial Palace) and The Flamingo. The Linq will likely become a meeting spot to begin the night.
Caesar's Palace and The Fountains of Bellagio are across the street. The RIO and The Palms are a short jaunt west on Flamingo. The Hard Rock Hotel, with its famous pool party Rehab, local favorite sports book and stellar concert venue The Joint lies a mile in the other direction.

What's at The Linq?
Caesar's slowly leaked the names of the retail shops, restaurants and attractions that will call The Linq home. The High Roller, the world's largest Ferris Wheel will be the centerpiece of The Linq, but will be joined by an array of amazing places to shop eat and be entertained. Here are some highlights that I'm most excited about. See the complete list of things to do at The Linq.
- The High Roller
When completed in early 2014 the High Roller will be the largest Ferris Wheel in the world. Standing at 550 feet tall and 520 feet in diameter the High Roller. It will have 28 circular cabins that each hold 40 people and will take approximately 30 minutes for a full revolution. It is scheduled to open in early 2014. Read More on The High Roller.
- Brooklyn Bowl
Dubbed "one of the most incredible places on earth," by Rolling Stone Magazine, the Linq will play host to the only Brookyln Bowl outside of Brooklyn. This bowling alley, 2,000 state of the art music venue and restaurant may just challenge The Joint and The Boulevard Pool as Las Vegas' Best Concert Venue.
A street food venue whose name is an acronym for Food, Art, Music and Entertainment, F.A.M.E. will feature the street food of Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong and Tai Pei with pop art and Asian inspired music and entertainment. It is sure to be odd, tasty and fantastic.
- Yard House
I've been to a few of the other Yard Houses across the country and am super, amazingly excited to welcome this beer haven to Las Vegas. While they do not brew their own beer Yard House will likely dominate the beer palate of many a Las Vegas resident or visitor. Get a bar stool ready for me.
