Opportunity Village is Las Vegas' most well-known charity, helping thousands of residents with disabilities find jobs, acquire vocational training and social integration each year.

History:

Opportunity Village began in 1954 when a few Las Vegas families banded together with the goal of creating an organization that could help better the lives of children with intellectual disabilities in the Las Vegas valley.

In the 50+ years since its inception it has helped over 3,000 people annually with vocational training, job placement, rehabilitational programs, and social recreation.

A Helping Hand:

The services that Opportunity Village offers are free to any Las Vegas resident who may need them and are almost entirely self-funded. However, it is also dependent upon the generosity of people who take the time to donate their services and money.

Donating:

Donations of time and money are always welcome at Opportunity Village. They will also accept donations of real estate, vehicles, deferred gifts and memorials.

Donations can be made securely online or via postal mail.

Events:

Opportunity Village hosts many fun events throughout the year for Las Vegas residents:

Arguably the most anticipated is the Magic Forest at Christmastime. It usually opens Thanksgiving weekend and runs until just after New Year's. Dozens of sponsors around the valley decorate trees and holiday displays for the event.

Miss Kitty's Jeans to Jewels raises hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for OV. The event is a fun country western festival featuring dancers, ropers and local artists.

The annual Celebrity Poker Tournament draws a huge crowd to Las Vegas and also raises thousands of dollars.
