It may come as a surprise to many of the millions of tourists that visit Las Vegas every year, but we residents do get up early, have breakfast and keep normal schedules. As any long time resident will tell you "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" does not apply when you live here. But, we do have a few perks that often remain unknown to the tourists. While you visitors are getting your few hour of nightly sleep we residents are eating our first meal at some of the best breakfast places in Las Vegas.

I will be profiling breakfast places in various neighborhoods of Las Vegas. Here is my list of great breakfast places in Downtown Las Vegas.

Du-Par's Restaurant and Bakery

A great place to start your day before heading on a downtown pub crawl or getting an early start for First Friday's, Du-Par's located inside the venerable Golden Gate Casino is open 24 hours a day and is a well known favorite of breakfast-ophiles in Las Vegas. Full of fresh ingredients with no preservatives, this home cooking landmark has been open for 70 years. Try the home made corned beef hash and french toast.

While not strictly a breakfast item my favorite id the Kokomo, a meatloaf sandwich on thick cut toast. Couple it with a great bloody mary and you have the beginnings of a good time. For those sticklers who want breakfast for breakfast try the griddled french toast.
