The most magnificent expression of man’s power over water may just be the Fountains of Bellagio. Long a favorite of visitors, locals and lovers, the fountains get most of their water not from Lake Mead from the same artesian wells that drew the Spaniards to this valley so long ago.

This monstrous four acre piece of aquatic art incorporates water jets shot by more than 1,200 jets as high as 460 ft into the dry dessert air. Add in the more than 4,500 lights and numerous pieces of contemporary and classic music and The Fountains of Bellagio create one of the best free shows to be seen anywhere in the valley.

Every thirty minutes a new show rises from the calm of the water to perform an aquabatic masterpiece of sight and sound and touch (yes the spray will often spread a cooling mist over you as you watch). From Sinatra's famous "Fly Me to the Moon" through Elvis' "Viva Las Vegas" to more modern pieces by Celine Dion and Faith Hill, The Fountains of Bellagio are a must see for visitors and locals. Romance abounds as lovers stand amazed at the wondrous artistry, while kids of all ages will yelp with joy.

The Fountains of Bellagio remain a must see for anyone with a pulse capable of being jolted.
