Sunday Funday
After a hard week or work Sundays are the days to relax and have fun. While sometimes you'll just want to sit around the house watching the NFL, some weekends you'll want to grab some friends and do something new. that's where I come in with these ongoing series of Sunday Funday articles.
We Las Vegas resident, both natives or a recent transplants, often fall victim to the same old same old routine and forget the amazing things around us. From a great new bar, to that hot new show or even that natural wonder in out backyards that we've never seen. Sunday Funday exists for just these things and I hop to re-invigorate your passion for all that the Las Vegas Valley has to offer. Join me?
Something Tasty
This week we're going to try something new. We're going to start our Sunday Funday excursion with one of the best brunch spreads to be had anywhere in the Valley. The Sterling Brunch at Ballys, while pricey at $85 a person, has been declared the "best brunch ever" by several of my friends and a whole gaggle of online reviewers. Featuring king crab legs, caviar and unlimited Perrier Jouet champagne, this ain't your grandparents brunch. This is one of those special occasion, go a little bit nuts and spend a week's worth of lunch money in one day kinda brunch. This is the beginning of a fabulous day brunch. This is the end of another great Las Vegas hoopla brunch. Go now. Reservations are recommended call (702) 967-7999. While you wait head to the sportsbook and lay down a wager.
Something Free
After gorging yourself on delicacies jump in the car (unless you've guzzled all that champagne) and head to the other side of Summerlin where the hiking mecca of Red Rock Canyon awaits. This free attraction is 15 miles west of the Strip, but the peace and tranquility and dare I say nature creates a calm one rarely finds amidst the hustle and the bustle of Las Vegas proper. It is the perfect venue to refurbish the internal energies before returning to the craziness of Las Vegas. Hiking, biking, yelling like a giant buffoon from atop rusty colored bluffs are available to all at this refuge from the modern world.
Something Fun
Once the batteries are restored to normalcy come back to the Strip and take inner sinner on a tour of some of Las Vegas' more nefarious locales under the able tutelage of the guides from Haunted Vegas Tours. This 2 1/2 hour tour will show Vegas newbies and long timers alike an underbelly to the glitziest city in the world. Visit Bugsy Siegel's home, see the site where Liberace's ghost is said to walk and discover just how much undead mayhem occurs in Las Vegas. Get Discount Tickets.
