I've made the joke in these pages before that Las Vegas is the place that musicians go after they've (or their careers) died and want to get paid the big bucks. With all due respect to the titans of Las Vegas like Elton John and Celine Dion, whose out of this world ticket sales have revitalized careers and wallets, many of the residency shows have felt a bit out dated when it comes to current musical trends.
Cee Lo Green may change that on August 29th when he brings a semi-permanent residency to Planet Hollywood. Cee Lo is most certainly still at the height of his career and I contend that his residency marks the beginning of a new Las Vegas, where promoters and concert venues finally see that their is a huge local market for current stars. Let's hope it is a trend that continues with benefits for all Las Vegans.
