If you were anything like me growing up then your Saturday mornings were spent pajama clad in front of the TV for Saturday Morning cartoons. Clutching my cereal bowl and guffawing mightily at cartoons that ranged the gamut from action to sci-fi to comedy. The undisputed king of Saturday were the Looney Tunes from Warner Bros. Would Wile E. Coyote ever catch the Roadrunner? We all knew that to be no. Would Pepe Le Pew ever convince that poor cat he was the cat of her dreams? Unlikely. These cartoons defined my childhood and now Circus Circus is set to celebrate the man behind them, the legendary animator Chuck Jones.
The Chuck Jones Experience is "an interactive exhibit at Circus Circus Las Vegas designed to "Educate, Inspire & Entertain" people of all ages." This 10,000 sq foot attraction will feature the "Chuck Jones Center for Creativity class room where creative art projects will be encouraged and guided by teachers from the field of animation and the arts."
Other exhibits include Animation Alley that features authentic pieces of Chuck Jones animation and How Do You Measure Up? where 3D characters stand at attention letting visitors compare their "real life" sizes. The best may just be the Acme Workshop, where visitors get to create their own sound effects and voice overs.
The Chuck Jones Experience was created in cooperation with his daughter and grandson and the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity which encourages children in the creative arts. Located at Circus Circus, the Chuck Jones Experience is set to open in mid October. You can be assured this animation fan will check it out.
