The $3.9 billion Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will open its doors on the Las Vegas Strip on Wednesday. However, the Los Angeles Times wonders Vegas welcomes the new Cosmopolitan, but will enough spenders come? The upscale resort may suffer the same fate as CityCenter, which had a sluggish opening during 2010 but now turns a profit for MGM Resorts International.
However, early reviews for the Cosmopolitan have dubbed it a refreshing change from standard Strip fare. The Cosmopolitan will cater to clients who don't care for Las Vegas, according to reviewer Dawn Bachers of JHM. Praise for the 2,995-room resort centers around the room balconies and elevator that allows guests to proceed directly to their rooms without navigating a casino.
What do you predict for the Cosmopolitan? Will it revive the Las Vegas Strip or stand empty as tourists stay home? Share your comments below.
