Endoscopy Centers' Business Licenses Yanked
Tuesday April 8, 2008
Yesterday, the City of Las Vegas decided to revoke the business licenses of the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada and the Gastroenterology Center, as well as money orders totaling $500,000 for putting at least 40,000 people at risk of contracting Hepatitis C and other serious diseases. The half million dollars will be used to help former patients who need to be tested as a result of possible contamination from the centers shoddy practices. According to a Las Vegas Now report, Mayor Goodman said the city did all it could under its jurisdiction. Apparently, though the doctors could still open other clinics, however their old licenses will indicate their involvement with this hepatitis scare.
What do you think? I think their medical licenses should be yanked too. The blatant disregard for literally thousands of people's health just to save some money? I think it's pretty appalling.

We were visiting Las Vegas when this story aired on television. We sat in abject horror while the magnitude of this clinics greedy practice was coming to light.
Their code of practicing medicine got derailed somewhere along the line and just plain greed settled in for the ride.
Patients trusted them for healthy, quality clean-practicing care, and it is already magnified when you consider that the diseases were possibly unknowingly spread to the innocent others in their families.
The mayor not taking a stand on this is reprehensible.
Their licenses should be revoked permanently, nation wide and if possible, world-wide.
It was obvious their thoughts were not in providing the best care for their patients, but for their pocketbooks and bank accounts.
How much will the former patients have to shell out for their long-time care now? $500,000.00 seems like a very small sum when you consider the snowball effect it will have on their patient’s lives and the lives for the rest of the families involved.
My question about this situation: How is it that this could go on (for several years, I believe)and NOT ONE employee reported this practice to anyone in some authority? NOT ONE!!! That is what I consider reprehensible. These employees never considered that this could be happening to one of their own loved ones? The prior commentor is right - These people should lose their licenses and $500,000 is way too little a price for them to pay. I hope that anyone affected will “sue them to the full extent possible.”
