The Circus is returning to Las Vegas courtesy of the Ringling Brothers. This June from the 13th through the 16th The Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey bring Built to Amaze to the Thomas and Mack Center at UNLV. This is one of the best things to bring the kids to, and Las Vegas isn't exactly known for its kid friendly entertainment. Find tickets at Ticketmaster.
Built to Amaze is designed to bring the circus into the 21st century, while harkening back to the companies roots. Enjoy the show.

So you've done it again. You are so busy with the day to day grind of your busy life that you forgot to plan for Mother's Day. Well fret not, I am here to help you make last minute plans that will make you look like you planned ahead. You're welcome.
Step 1) Make a dinner reservation. While restaurant.com is a great resource, the choices can be overwhelming and nothing beats talking to a real human being. My advice is take Mom to one of the Top Ten Las Vegas Celebrity Owned Restaurants.
Step 2) Get her a present. While most people cite gambling, shows and partying as the main reason for coming to Las Vegas your Mom probably came for the shopping. Lets face it folks, few places on Earth can rival the shopping in Las Vegas. From Crystals to the Fashion Show Mall Las Vegas Shopping is second to none. So go to her favorite store and pick out a present. Or maybe if you're Mom is a bit odd then shop at one of these fine Odd and Interesting Las Vegas Shopping Establishments.
Step 3) Take her to a show. If your Mom is a bit of a rocker then check out my guide to Mother's Day Weekend Concerts. If a Las Vegas Show is more her speed then why not Wow her with Zarkana tickets or get advance tickets for the brand new Michael Jackson's ONE starting May 25th.
Step 4) Have fun. What any Mom truly wants fromt heir kids on Mother's Day is to feel loved and appreciated. Spend some good quality time with her and she'll be feeling the love for a long time to come.

For those of us outside the music biz, it seems as if dozens of new artists pop from nowhere to achieve overnight success. But those in the know understand there is no such thing. Artists spend years honing their craft, writing songs that nobody will ever hear, playing dingy watering holes that few wish to visit and all through it keeping the faith. Gary Allan is a poster child for this odd dynamic of American culture.
Fate, a bit of luck and the kindness of strangers helped Allan on his way to stardom. While struggling and keeping true to his Old Country roots, Allan worked as a car salesman and left a copy of his demo in the glove compartment of a new car. Once the owners realized he was the artist they wrote him a $12,000 check, "To follow his dream." A few years of struggle later and he'd arrived.
Three platinum albums later and he was a household name among country fans. His sound is edgy, hard and full of the angst, pain and redemption inspired by his life. He is unapologetic, honest and raw. Exactly what today's country music fans need.

It's book reading weather here in Las Vegas folks and if you're at all like me then you'll want to take advantage of the short term good weather, grab a Las Vegas history book or a Las Vegas novel and head down to one of the Valley's many parks. I for one remember reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for time number seven or so, while basking in the sun atop a well climbed spire at Red Rock Canyon.
Whatever your reading pleasure and wherever you choose to crack open that book, this is the time of year to do it. Visit your local library, sign up for a library card and start reading.
